From Aqaba to Petra
Public minibuses
You can catch a public minibus to Wadi Musa from the bus station in the downtown,
next to the Aqaba Police Station. There are 5 buses a day (no buses on Friday),
the first one comes in around 6.00h and leaves when it's full. Don't expect a
written schedule. The journey takes around 1.5-2 hours.
The ticket is JD 5.
Regular and service taxis from Aqaba to Petra
White service taxis leave from the same place as the minibuses and they take
you to Wadi Musa for JD 30. They take up to 4 people in one car.
If you want to come back to Aqaba on the same day
you can also hire a regular green Aqaba taxis to take you to Petra from anywhere
in the city or even from the Israeli border (Wadi Araba or Arava crossing
between Aqaba and Eilat). Budget apprx. JD 80 for a day-trip.
From Wadi Rum to Petra
Bus
There is a daily bus service between Petra and Wadi Rum: the bus leaves from
Wadi Musa bus station at 6.00h in the morning and picks up tourists from
various hotels in Wadi Musa - ask your hotel to arrange it for you the day
before or call the driver at
079 5235257 to book your place. The capacity of the bus is 27 people.
After arriving to the Wadi Rum Visitor Center it picks up new passangers
here (and also from the Rest House in Rum village) and departs for Petra
at around 8.30h.
The bus fare is 5 JD one way.
Taxi from Wadi Rum to Petra
If you missed the bus or want to go to Petra in the afternoon, you can try to
get a taxi at the Visitor Center where they bring passengers to.
You can also ask your desert guide to call one for you.
Try not to pick green Aqaba taxis as they would
probably charge you more than the taxis coming from Petra (yellow). The taxi
fare should be around 35 JD
