Med bus nr. 81. Se
en lille video om to af højdepunkterne.
From Nice, you leave the Bus Station, with Bus 81 on the Ligne d'azur network. You travel past the Port alongside the Place Ile de Beauté, at the top end of the old port,
famous for the 19th century architecture of Notre-Dame du Port and the neighbouring buildings with their red porticos and façades. You will then travel along the Basse Corniche where all along boulevard Carnot you will have fabulous views over the Bay of Angels, before arriving at Cap de Nice where you will first of all see the Château de l'Anglais, a 19th century mansion that is an eclectic blend of Hindu and medieval British styles, and then the Palais Maeterlinck, formerly known as the "Villa Orlamande", the home of the Flemish poet of the same name.
When you arrive in Villefranche-sur-Mer, Jean Cocteau's adoptive home, which has preserved all of its old-world charm thanks to its port, its 13th century old town and its citadel.
You can get off at the "Octroi" stop and change onto Bus 80 to go as far as the "Hôtel de Ville" stop, where you will discover St Elme's citadel, built in the 16th century, which is now home to the Town Hall, the Volti and Goetz-Boumeester (friends of Picasso) Museums and the Conference Centre, or simply take a stroll around the old town or the Port. You could also continue on Bus 81 to enjoy the view over one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world.
Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat, an idyllic peninsula, will amaze you with its multitude of luxury villas which nestle behind the rich vegetation. By getting off at the "Passable" stop, you can visit the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and its sumptuous gardens and decorations, which date back to 1905; you can also hop off at "Le zoo" and discover the Zoological Gardens with 300 animals living in semi-liberty or, by going as far as the terminus "Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat Port", you can amble around the Port, or, if you are feeling more energetic, take the coast path with its three marked out routes, including the tour of Cap Ferrat and the possibility of going as far as Beaulieu-sur-Mer where, after stopping off at the Villa Kérylos, a reconstitution of an Ancient Greek palace, built in the 19th century, you can go to the "Kérylos" stop on Route 81 of the Ligne d'azur network to travel back to Nice, after a wonderful day out.
